Chris was born on January 9, 1952 in Medina, Ohio. He married his best friend and love of his life, Kristine (nee Schaefer) on April 19, 1975. He was a long time resident of Medina, where he and Kristine raised their wonderful children. In 2006, he retired to Elloree, South Carolina. Chris only took on more work in retirement; he volunteered at the Elloree Heritage Museum, became planning and zoning administrator for the town of Elloree, was an active member of St. Ann Catholic Church, and—most passionately—was a volunteer lieutenant firefighter and medical first responder for the Elloree Fire Department. His only hobby was helping others. He adored his children, and no one could make him smile more than his new grandson.
