Donald D. Dobson

June 9, 1933 - March 8, 2017

Donald D. Dobson, 83, of Litchfield, Ohio entered his heavenly rest on Weds. March 8, 2017.

He was born June 9, 1933, in Valley City to the late Louis and Clara (nee Reutter) Dobson. Don has resided in Medina County his entire life, other than spending the winters with his wife in Broward County, Fla since 1989.

Don had farmed with an uncle in the early years of his life, than worked for Wolff Bros. Medina, before starting his own business in 1965, Don Dobson Excavating.

He has been an active member of a variety of churches over his life, Zion Lutheran Church, Valley City, First Baptist Church of Valley City, Weymouth Community Church, and lastly Penfield Community Church. Don was very devoted to his Lord and Savior. He was active in church leadership, bible studies and went on several mission trips to Belize.

Don had been a York Township Trustee, member of the Erhart Fire and Rescue Dept.; Lion’s Club and the Medina County Farm Bureau Council. In 2013, Don was the Citizen of the year in York Township.

Don enjoyed building and racing cars in the early stage of his life. Later, he was more involved in woodworking and planting his vegetable garden.

He will be missed by his wife- Beverly (nee Bower) married for 60 years. Children- Deb and Jeff Davis, of Dearborn, MI; Jeff Dobson of Medina, Greg and Debbie Dobson of Litchfield and Kim and Chris Schellenberg of Grand Rapids, MI. 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren

Don leaves behind two brothers- Wilbur Dobson, of Texas and Jerry Dobson of Valley City. He was preceded in death by a brother Roger.

Celebration of Life Gathering will be held for family and friends on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 PM at the York Township Hall, 6609 Norwalk Road Mallet Creek. There will be a service at 3:00 PM. Rev. Micah Dobson, Don’s grandson officiating.

Memorials are suggested if desired to the York Township Park or the Dearborn Covenant Church (memo: Friendship House Ministry), Dearborn, MI
