Understanding When Needed Most
William Gilbert Ross, age 82, passed away on April 22, 2017 at his home in Valley City, OH. A bricklayer by trade, Bill started his masonry contracting business in 1956 and continued the business until 1980 at which time he moved to Venice, Fla. While in Florida, he and Janet started Ross Homes, Inc. During their years there they built hundreds of homes. Bill was always known for the great quality and workmanship and his honesty. He retired in 1998 and moved back to Valley City. He had a special interest in antique cars, most notably his 1924 Model T, which was always seen in the Valley City parades. He was a member of Life Spring Community Church. He served on the Liverpool Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Model T Cub, The Kaiser-Frazer Club and the Cushman Club. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events over the years.
Bill was the beloved husband of Janet for almost 65 years, father of Debbie (Jeffrey) Hendricks of Hunstville AL.: William (Peggy) Ross, of Valley City; Renee (Chris) Dyer of Newark; Sheri Breit, of Los Angeles, CA and Gayle (Rene) Schoonbrood of Folsom, CA. Grandfather of 13, Michael, Justin, Tanya, Tara, Katie and William, Christopher, David, Nicole, Corey, Shelly, Jason and Daniel. Great grandfather or 10- Turner, Mason, Ava, Olivia, Landon, Hayden, Bryson, Maisie, Mckenzie and William.
Preceded in death by his parents William V. and Vera Ross, and a sister Betty.
A private family service will be held Friday, April 28 with burial at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Valley City. Dr. Chris Dyer will officiate.
