Willard G. Bauman

January 11, 1923 - April 30, 2017

Willard G. Bauman, age 94, of Litchfield, OH passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017.

He was born in Brunswick, OH on January 11, 1923 to the late Henry and Emma (nee Gunkelman) Bauman. Willard has resided in Medina County his whole life.

Willard was well known for his involvement in playing on the Abbeyville Fast Pitch Softball team at the Abbeyville Ball Park. He also played baseball on an Erhart team.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy and has been lifelong Dairy and Grain farmer. The only vacation he would take off was the dedicated annual week of the Medina County Fair. Willard was a member of the Medina County Farm Bureau, Milk Producers Federation and Dairymen’s.

Willard was an avid sport’s enthusiast, but especially enjoyed following his beloved Cleveland Indians. He always loved attending tractor pulling contests and in later years he enjoyed going to farm & cattle auctions.

Willard is survived by his children, William (Pamela), Robert (Julie), Bonnie (Ken) Smay and Rex. Grandchildren, Brian (Heather) Bauman, Kristin (Ryan) Anderson, Benjamin (Nichole) Bauman, Janice (Keith) Curtin, Bradley Bauman (Kellie Quinn), Kyle Bauman and Brett Smay. Great grandchildren, Madison, Brayden, Charlotte, Ellianna Bauman, Blakeslee Curtin, Travis and Trent Anderson and Brooke Bauman.

Preceded in death by his wife Betty (nee Hamer) Nov. 11, 2016, they had been married 70 years. His sisters, Norma Bauman and Arline Bacik.

Visitation- Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 4:00-8:00PM with the funeral service at 8:00PM at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road Valley City. Pastor Jim Watson, officiating.

Graveside Service- Friday, May 5, 2017 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Valley City.

The Bauman family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Medina Meadows and the staff of Hospice of Medina County for their care and support given to their father and grandfather Willard Bauman.

In lieu of flowers- The family suggests memorials may be made to the Hospice of Western Reserve 5075 Windfall Road Medina, OH 44256.
