Lucille A. Vasel

Lucille Vasel, 93, of Valley City was welcomed into the hands of the Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Lucille was born in Grafton, Ohio on April 12, 1924 to the late John and Emma (nee Walter) Wirkner. She graduated from Belden High School and later from Business School. Lucille married the love of her life on Sept. 11, 1948, Lad Vasel and had lived in Valley City ever since. Lucille was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family business. She was a lifetime member of St. Martin of Tours, Valley City and actively served on the Altar & Rosary Society. She volunteered for Red Cross in Medina and most recently at the Medina Community Service Center. She will be deeply missed by her sons- James (Peggy), Joseph (Janice), Thomas (Debbie), David (Debbie), Dale (Denise) and Richard (Christy) and her daughter- Jeanne (James) Blankenship, daughter-in-law: Gale Vasel. Grandmother of 21 and great grandmother of 25. She leaves two dear sisters- Eileen Fricke (late Albert) and Agnes Zaremba (late Robert.) Nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Lad in 1981, son- John in 2009, infant grandsons- Daniel 1987 and Stephen 1984 (sons of Joseph & Janice Vasel) brother and sister in law Joseph & Sylvia Wirkner. Funeral Mass- 10:30 a.m. Weds., October 4, 2017 at St. Martin of Tours, 1800 Station Road Valley City, OH Rev. Robert Stec, officiating. Calling hours- 3:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in the Gathering area of St. Martin of Tours and from 9:30 AM Weds. prior to the Funeral Mass. Burial- St. Martin of Tours Cemetery, Valley City. In lieu of flowers- The family suggests memorials may be made to the St. Martin Building Fund or to the Medina Community Service Center.
