Richard L. Trimble

February 17, 1947 - August 11, 2018

Richard Lynn Trimble of Valley City, Ohio passed away in Medina at The Cleveland Clinic from lung cancer on August 11, 2018. He was born in Morgantown, WV to the late Carl and Sylvia Poling Trimble, also of Morgantown. He was a proud 1967 graduate of Rivesville High School. He met his wife Mary Pobega in high school and they married May 30, 1970. They just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary, they dated 6 years before they married, so they always said they really were together 54 years. Rick came to Ohio and began to work in the steel mills in 1969 and retired in 2012 with over 40 years in the mill. He was a proud union member of Local 185. They built their home in Valley City and raised two children, Richard Lynn Trimble, II of California and Tiffany Trimble Pluta (Ryan) of Copley. Once retired, he loved being outside working on his lawn and his lake. He loved to take his yellow Corvette out and he was happiest when he had it going as fast as he could. He loved to travel and his favorite place was Hawaii and the Virgin Islands. He always said his most memorable trip was being on Las Vegas Blvd in 2000 when the world was to come to an end. He felt that was where to be, if it did end. His all-time joy was his grandson Keegan. Keegan brought out a side of Rick most of us had not seen. He was always the rough and tough guy, but with Keegen he became a gentle giant, it was a joy to watch them. He was met at the Pearly Gates by his parents, Carl and Sylvia, brothers Dwight and Austin and his sisters Lenore Collins and Jeanette Kerekes. As his time grew near he discussed many things with his wife, and I said what can I say about you. He said, “tell them to not be like me, if they drink stop, if they smoke stop and that way their children will not suffer as they did watching him.” So, think about your children, instead of thinking what you will leave them, your car, your antiques, your best gift is try and be healthy so that you can live longer and enjoy them more. No one wants to watch someone they love suffer, so that was his final word. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018 at St. Martin of Tours Chapel, 1800 Station Road Valley City, OH Rev.
