Charles R. "Charlie" Alfrey

February 5, 1938 - January 17, 2019

Charles R. Alfrey “Charlie”, 80, of Medina, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Life Care Center of Medina. Charlie was born February 5, 1938 in Bartley, West Virginia to the late Virgil and Narie Alfrey. After graduation from high school he moved to Cleveland. He later lived in North Ridgeville and moved to Medina in 2007. Charlie had worked at the General Motors plant in Parma for over 30 years retiring in 1990. Charlie enjoyed hunting, traveling and NASCAR. In his later years, he loved working and watching his grandson Brian work on and race four-wheelers. As time went by, Charlie loved to watch the next generation great grandson Jeremiah and great granddaughter Ava racing their four-wheelers. Charlie got the greatest excitement out of taking his great grandson Bentley for rides on “Poppy’s” buggy. Charlie will be greatly missed by his wife Lorena, married 29 years. Children- Denise (Ron) Wolf, and their children Amanda, Danielle, Brian, Melissa, Jessica and Kenneth; Belinda (Jeffrey) Weaver, and their children Matthew & Andrew; Linda (John) Lindsey, their daughter Elaina; Rori (Aaron) Stuckey. 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and one on the way. Brother- Marvin (Judy) Alfrey and Sisters- Faye (Gerald) Short and Jannia (Darrell) Bostic. Preceded in death by sister- Imogene Black and brothers- Ralph, Ray and Clyde Alfrey. Following Charlie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM. Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, Ohio, with a Reflection Service held at the close of the gathering at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers- Charlie’s family suggests memorials may be made to Life Care Center of Medina or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
