Phares Lee. Cunningham

January 31, 1940 - March 26, 2019

Phares Lee Cunningham, 79, of Medina, Ohio entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 following a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Phares was born January 31, 1940 in Perkins, West Virginia to the late Roy and Lucy (nee Cook) Cunningham. He was raised in West VA and moved to Ohio in October 1959 to locate employment. He has resided in Medina County for many years. Phares had worked in drywalling industry prior to working as a machinist with Cleveland City Forge and then retiring in 2003 from Hy Production, Valley City. He was an active member of The First Baptist Church of Valley City. Phares loved working outside and actually enjoyed splitting wood for the winter months. He loved to hunt and was an avid Cleveland Indian’s fan. Phares will be greatly missed by his wife Carolyn (nee Tallman) married 57 years. Children- William (Debbie) Cunningham, of Medina; Sue Ann Cunningham of Columbus, Dawn Cunningham of Clayton, N. C. and Amy (Marc) Lallier, of Colorado Springs, CO. 4 grandchildren-Elaine, Kyle, Heather and Megan; 4 great grandchildren- Audrey, Brayden, Evan and Cameron. Brothers- Darrell, Wayne, Royce and Denzel Cunningham; Sisters- Norma Batton, Fondalee (June) Barto and Clarice Cunningham. Numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a brother- Edward Cunningham; sisters- Orpha Skinner, Phyllis and Jean Cunningham. Calling hours- 6:00-8:00PM, Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, OH. Funeral Service- Noon, Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Valley City 6936 Center Road Valley City, where friends may view from 11:00 AM till Noon. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memory Garden, Brunswick, OH The family suggests memorials if desired to the Hospice of Western Reserve 5075 Windfall Road Medina, Ohio 44256.
