John Prentice Obituary

John J. Prentice, 87, of Valley City, Ohio passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

John was born April 7, 1936 in Patterson, New Jersey to the late John P. and Anne (nee Sang) Prentice. He had lived in Lakewood prior to moving to Valley City 52 years ago.  John was an active member of St. Martin of Tours, Valley City.  He was a United States Army veteran.
He had worked as a foreman/clerk for Conrail Railroad for 44 years.
John enjoyed gardening, fishing and was an avid beekeeper. John met his wife Carol in 1990 while they were roller skating.

He had a great personality and sense of humor, a willingness to help anyone in need and he was a faithful servant to all.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Carol, married 33 years. Children

Cheryl Prentice Miller (Matt Goebel), Susan (Jeff) Peters, Jeanne Prentice, David (Donna) Osborne, Michael (Chris) Osborne, Mark (Jen) Osborne, Bill Osborne.  16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and one on the way. He also has many nieces and nephews including David Barber who was his fishing buddy and honorary son.

Preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his girls- Norma Prentice, 1989. sisters- Anne Pusha and Patricia Barber.

Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, OH

Funeral Mass-10:00 am, Thursday, February 8, 2024 at St. Martin of Tours Chapel, 1800 Station Road Valley City, OH  (Please meet at the church)

Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
