Mary Mohler Perkins Obituary

Mary Louise Mohler Perkins, 97, who lived most of her life in Litchfield, Ohio, but spent her last days in Georgia, passed on to be with Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior on February 28, 2024.  She was born in Litchfield, the middle daughter of the late Frank and Urania (Clark) Yost, and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1945.  Before marriage, she was employed by the Medina Northern Ohio Telephone Company.

She married Aubrey R. Mohler on October 5, 1946.  They worked together on their Litchfield Township dairy farm until Aubrey died in 1992.  A portion of their farm has been in Mary’s family for 5 generations.  She and Aubrey were active, long-time members of the Litchfield Baptist Church where Mary taught a beginners’ Sunday school class and sang in the choir.  They were also active in the Buckeye 60 Farm Bureau Advisory Council.  The Mohler family was musical.  Mary transported her children to many music lessons and took great pleasure in their musical accomplishments.  Mary enjoyed spending time with family, reading, Bible study, doing puzzles, baking, and preserving food from the fruit of their farm.  Beginning in her early teens, Mary faithfully kept a daily diary and followed Cleveland Indians baseball.

Mary resided on the farm until January 1, 1997, when she married Paul E. Perkins of Snowflake, Arizona, (formerly of Weymouth, Ohio) and in the ensuing years, enjoyed traveling to all 48 contiguous states and spending time at the lakes in the “high country” of Arizona.  They later moved to Payson, then to Mesa, Arizona.  After Paul died in 2015, Mary moved back to Litchfield to live with a son and daughter-in-law for 6 years.

Mary is survived by her loving family: David (Patricia) Mohler, of Litchfield; Joyce (Dennis, deceased) Dieringer of Social Circle, Georgia; Thomas (Martha) Mohler of The Hills, Texas; and twins James (Sandi) Mohler, of Litchfield and John (LouAnn) Mohler of Dayton, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; over 40 great grandchildren, some who call her G.G.; 2 great-great-grandsons; nephew, Jim Wissinger of Carefree, Arizona; and cousin, Charles (Jill) Heath of Medina; including Aubrey’s family whom Mary called her own.  She was also blessed with Paul’s loving children and their families: Bill, deceased (Judy) Perkins, Jim (Diane, deceased) Perkins, and Mary (David) Griffy, all of the metro Phoenix area.  Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Aubrey of 46 years; husband Paul of 18 years; her two sisters, Beulah Wissinger and Catherine Biggs; and a nephew, Charles Wissinger.

Mary’s service will be held at Litchfield Baptist Church, 4022 Avon Lake Road, Litchfield, on March 12 at 10:30 AM, with visitation 1 hour before the service.  Burial will follow in Litchfield cemetery.  Arrangements have been handled by Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City.
