Donna H. Dittmar, age 74, of Valley City passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2017. Donna was born in Williamsport, PA on August 3, 1943 to the late Louis and Rae (nee Tompkins) Hamm. She lived in PA until she moved to Medina County in 1973. Donna taught History and Geography for many years and lastly was a Physical Education teacher in the Strongsville School System. While her daughters were in the Buckeye School System, she had served as the Buckeye JV girls soccer coach. Donna was an active member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Valley City, where she was involved in the knitting group, yoga and making of wicker baskets. Former bowling league member in Brunswick. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends who had the privilege to know her. Survived by her daughters- Jennifer Dittmar, of Valley City and Amanda Dittmar (Nicholas Cerulli) of Arlington,VA Brother- Richard Hamm and Sisters- Luann Henderson, Karen Frey and Shelby Alessandrini. Preceded in death by her husband James of 42 years in March 2014. Family and Friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life Service: 1:00 PM Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ 6656 Center Road Valley City. Rev. Bert Ambrose, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers- Memorials are suggested to the St. Jude’s Children Research, Memphis, TN; Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 E. Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611 or to Emmanuel United Church of Christ. The Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City has the honor or serving the Dittmar Family.
