Myrtle A. Stroup Evans

April 6, 1927 - April 3, 2018

Myrtle A. Evans, 90, of Valley City entered the gates of her heavenly home on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Myrtle was born April 6, 1927 in Meadowview, Virginia to the late Virgil and Cora (nee Delp) Wilcox. She moved to Valley City in 1956, where Myrtle and her first husband built their home. Myrtle lived her life for her Lord…. She had taught Sunday School and was active in her church First Baptist of Strongsville. Myrtle had worked as supervisor & department manager at the former Grant Store in Medina for 17 years and later retired a Division manager of Sears on West 130th Southland. Myrtle actively enjoyed bowling twice a week up to most recently when her health decline got her way. She loved sewing and crocheting. The love of her life was her Lord and beloved family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her. Myrtle is survived by her daughters- Loretta (Robert) Phillip, of Medina and Doris (David) Weir of Fla. And a son- Lowry, Jr. (Butch) (Phyllis) Stroup of Rittman. Grandchildren- Thomas Etling, Melissa Etling, Aaron Stroup and Rebecca Stroup. Great grandchildren Leah, Emma and Anna Stroup. Her faithful four-legged companion- Misty. Sister- Mary Harrin of Fla and brother- Roy (Bonnie) Wilcox of Virginia. Preceded in death by her husbands- Lowry Stroup, Sr. and Glen Evans; a sister-Louise Callahan. Calling hours-6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, Ohio. Funeral Service- 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Strongsville, 17444 Drake Road, Strongsville. Rev. Jim Sperry, officiating, where there will be calling hour from 1:00 PM until the hour of the funeral. Burial- Eastlawn Memory Garden, Brunswick, OH In lieu of flowers- Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Strongsville.
