Jerome C. Janik, 92, of Valley City, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, May 4, 2018 with his loving family at his side. Jerome was born December 15, 1925 in Lakewood, Ohio to the late Joseph and Karoline (nee Pinda) Janik. He lived most of his life in Lakewood prior to moving to Medina County 4 years ago. Jerome was a U.S. Navy veteran, proudly served his country as an Aviation Ordnance man, Third Class. He received a World War II Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal (3 stars) and a Philippine Liberation ribbon. He retired after many years as a Design & Engineering Supervisor with East Ohio Gas, at the East 55th office in Cleveland. Jerome had a talent of making airplane models out of plastic and wood. In his early days, enjoyed fishing. The love of his life was his family. Jerome was devoted to caring for his late wife, Ruth and he adored his children, grand and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his daughter- Cheryl (husband Marco) Miduri, sons- Jerome (deceased) (wife Mary Ann) and Donald (Gloriane Crater, deceased). Grandchildren- Jennifer O’Reilly, Christie Patterson (husband George), Donald, Jeffrey & Stacy Janik, Therese (deceased), Melissa Topoly (husband Bill), Darren Roberts (wife Mandee) and Joseph Janik (wife Ashley). Great grandchildren- Reese O’Reilly, Lucas and Nathan Patterson, Avaree & Madison Roberts and Emmy Topoly. At Jerome’s request, cremation has taken place. Jerome will be laid to rest on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road Seville, Ohio. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Please meet at the entrance by 10:15 a.m. The Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City has the honor of serving the Janik family.
